MediSecure hackers allegedly leaked data on the dark web
In a recent update, e-prescribing platform MediSecure revealed that it received information that a stolen dataset was allegedly found on a dark web forum.
It urged the public “not to go looking for this data.” “Accessing stolen personal or sensitive information on the dark web only fuels future cybercrime activities against Australian businesses.”

On May 16, the company previously made electronic prescriptions available to Australian healthcare providers across the country, have found themselves in one “large scale” ransomware attack. They later confirmed that hackers stole data related to prescriptions and personal information of healthcare providers from their systems until November 2023.
The Home Office assured that the current national electronic prescription delivery service, which has been provided by Fred IT’s eRx since May, has not been affected by the data breach.
Tasmanian Primary Health Authority allows electronic Referrals for Aboriginal services
Primary Health Tasmania, the primary health network in Tasmania, is helping to digitize the process of providing professional referrals for Aboriginal health services.
In March, they piloted the integration of HealthLink SmartForms with Telstra Health’s Communicare patient information platform used across Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organizations and Aboriginal health services. This allows clinicians to enter patient information into referral forms that can then be sent electronically to specialists.
According to Telstra Health, its Communicare solution is used in seven out of 10 Aboriginal health services across the country.
From June, additional states are expected to integrate SmartForms with Communicare, with the exception of Queensland, which operates a statewide eReferrals system.
