Star Wars and James Bond music and movie posters to be auctioned for more than £350,000 | UK News
A range of vintage music and film posters with an estimated value of more than £350,000 will go up for auction next month.
More than 530 posters from films including 1980’s Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Goldfinger, the third installment in the James Bond franchise, will be available to bid.
The auction, which will also include posters from a number of classic horror films, will be held by film and television entertainment company Propstore on September 15.
To coincide with the 60th anniversary of James Bond, a UK poster will go on sale from the 1964 film Goldfinger, with an estimated price of £4,000 to £6,000.
A poster from DC Comics’ first feature-length adaptation of the Batman character, released in 1966, will also be available.
Propstore CEO Stephen Lane said: “Propstore is back with another great collection of posters ready to go under the hammer.”
Meanwhile, the company’s director of posters Mark Hochman said for the first time that there will be a dedicated music category that includes a series of original concerts, commercials and themed titles from The New York Times. Beatles, Sex Pistols, Elvis Presley and more.
Content from the official archive of British film illustrator and poster Tom Chantrell, who was responsible for posters for the Carry On series and the UK release of the Star Wars film, will also be available. for sale.
Included in the lots will be a UK poster from 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope, estimated to cost between £3,000 and £5,000.
Posters from the 1956 science fiction film Forbidden Planet and the 1958 horror Attack Of The 50ft Woman are estimated to sell for between £5,000 and £7,000 and between £4,000 and £6,000 respectively.
A rare poster of Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man is also predicted to fetch between £4,000 and £6,000.
Online bidding is currently open until the live auction, which will take place at 3pm on September 15 and will be streamed online.
