Special edition see off the last V12 coupe of Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce’s final V12 coupe will be a special edition of the Black Badge Wraith inspired by the 1938 Thunderbolt land-speed car.

12 limited edition examples Rolls-Royce Black Badge Wraith Black Arrow will be built at Rolls-Royce’s Goodwood plant before the automaker begins production of its all-electric model. the spectre.

All have been distributed to customers around the world already.

The limited edition vehicle features a combination of Black Diamond and Anniversary Silver paint for a Thunderbolt-inspired gradient effect.

The automaker refers to the paint as having “a prominent front-to-back motion blur effect”.

A custom plate is mounted on the bonnet, representing the last V12 engine ever fitted to a Rolls-Royce coupe.

It is engraved with a bright yellow V12 monogram and ‘Ultimate Coupe Collection’ in Black.

Inside the limited edition Wraith there’s Thunderbolt bright yellow leather on the front seats. The stitching in the rear seats is finished in the same color.

Rolls-Royce says the armrests, seat cushions, transmission tunnel, door details, door trim and bottom panel are all finished in a new material it calls ‘Club Leather’.

It is said to have a “club armchair” look, with a darker, glossier black contrasting with the matte natural grained black leather in the cabin.

The interior also includes handcrafted starlight ceiling lights with 2117 individual fiber ‘stars’.

All stars are precisely placed to depict the Milky Way over the Salt Plains in Utah on September 16, 1938, the night that Captain George Eyston set the land speed record in the original Thunderbolt.

The passenger doors are lined with perforated Black Wood, with 320 laminated mosaic pieces for a look that Rolls-Royce says “mimilates the cracked, uneven surface of the Bonneville Salt Flats.”

The laser feature also extends to the rear ‘waterfall’ panel separating the two rear seats.

The bold line at the twelve o’clock position of the steering wheel aligns with the same pattern on the seats.

This sign represents Eyston’s sole reference point when Thunderbolt is traveling at over 500 km/h.

Thunderbolt set the world record for fastest land-based vehicle in 1938 with a top speed of 575.33 km/h.

It has two Rolls-Royce V12 ‘R’ Series aviation engines, eight wheels and weighs seven tons.

The special edition Rolls-Royce was inspired by the car’s appearance, as the record-setting car had a black arrow on the sides with a yellow circle motif in the middle so it could be seen at speed. High.

Rolls-Royce first introduced the Wraith in 2013, followed by the Wraith Black Badge in 2016. Both this model and its Dawn rival production is discontinued before the launch of the electric Specter.
