Sister Otoole Back for Another Graded Try in Red Carpet

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners’ Sister Otoole , fourth as the 9-5 favorite in the 2022 Red Carpet Stakes (G3T) at Del Mar, will look to make amends when she competes in the $100,000, 1 3/8-mile turf race Nov. 23.

The stakes-winning 6-year-old mare, trained by Graham Motion, seeks her first graded stakes win against six rivals, led by Neige Blanche.

Though Sister Otoole failed to fire in the 2022 Red Carpet, the daughter of Amira’s Prince  has twice visited the Del Mar winner’s circle, having won back-to-back runnings of the CTT and TOC Stakes in 2022-23 for Motion.

She has a record of 4-5-5 in 22 starts with earnings of $419,470. All but $2,700 of her bankroll has come for Eclipse, which acquired her privately and turned her over to Motion after she was third in her six-furlong debut at Tampa Bay Downs in January 2020.

Most recently, Sister Otoole was third in the Oct. 7 Waya Stakes (G3T) during the Belmont at the Big A meet. That followed her triumph in this summer’s CTT and TOC Stakes.

Multiple graded stakes winner Neige Blanche—outrun by Sister Otoole in the CTT and TOC Stakes this year and last—leads the field with $630,512 in earnings. She won the Possibly Perfect Stakes at Santa Anita Park to begin her 2023 season and has been fifth in her last two starts—the John C. Mabee Stakes (G2T) and Rodeo Drive Stakes (G2T).
