Shelter dogs can’t wait to spend their first Thanksgiving in a real home

Thanksgiving is meant for family, but shelter dogs Finly, Lyla, and Grimm have never known the comfort or safety of having a home.

These unlucky pups grew up in the South, where overcrowded shelters put homeless pets at high risk of death. Complicating matters is Louisiana’s skyrocketing rate of heartworm disease, which further reduces an infected animal’s chances of survival once it leaves the shelter.

This heartbreaking dilemma led Animal Rescue Website to partner with Greater Good Charity to bring Finly, Lyla, Grimm and at-risk shelter dogs and cats to safety. November 19

After departing Louisiana with 35 shelter dogs and 50 shelter cats on board, our November Flight to Freedom will land in the Pacific Northwest, where adoption demand is growing. leap.

Back in Louisiana, these dogs and cats were threatened by hurricanes, death, and the constant threat of heartworm disease. Now they are flying to an area where animals are adopted for a few days.

In addition to taking the pets to safe havens, we will be moving Louisiana rescues to shelters in the Pacific Northwest where they will be adopted in time for Thanksgiving.

Louisiana shelter pets Daisy and Walken are also eager to make a comeback as family pets in the Pacific Northwest. Like many southern shelter pets, Daisy and Walken are perfectly adoptable dogs but sadly grew up in the South, where adoption rates are low.

Our November 19 flight to Freedom will correct this imbalance by bringing Daisy, Walken and their sheltered pet passengers to an area where dogs and cats are adopted in some days.

But Flight to Freedom relies on donations from our readers, which is why we need your help to get these 85 animals to safety by November 19. Your $5 donation will help us buy 125 miles for a pet traveler in need of shelter. Larger donations help us save even more animals.

Can you help us get Finly, Lyla, Grimm, Daisy, Walken, and other Flight to Freedom passengers to their homes in time for Thanksgiving?
