Super lightweight 28-2-1 Omar Figueroa takes on Sergey Lipinets 16-2-1, in a 12th round WBC title elimination match scheduled for Saturday. The fight is the main event of the Showtime program and is broadcast live from Hollywood, Florida. Lipinets land well in the body for the first time. Figueroa was aggressive in the second half, but was knocked down by Lipinets’ shot. Figueroa was able to pass the count and survive the round. Lipinets continues to slash his men, especially in the body, in the third installment.

Figueroa continued to shoot and move forward in the fourth inning. Lipinets continued to throw – and land – heavy skin in the fifth section. By season six, it’s clear Figueroa won’t stop attacking unless he’s knocked out, forced, or somehow able to hold his ground until the final bell rings. Game Saturday saw Figueroa continue to be cornered. Between innings, his corner threatened – and rightfully so – to stop the game. Things didn’t improve for Figueroa in round 1/8. His corner was true to its word and stopped the game wisely.
