Senior dog brutally abandoned by owner at Florida airport

When Bama arrived at Tampa International Airport, the senior dog was planning a trip to Alabama with his owner.

But at the gate, Bama’s owner was told that her puppy did not have the proper travel documents, including proof of vaccinations needed to board the flight. When the dog’s owner was told that Bama (whose owner had also not paid the companion fee) would not be able to board the plane, the dog’s owner simply said that she would make other arrangements.

The flight attendant assumed this meant Bama’s owner would take the older dog’s passport. Unfortunately, the dog’s owner had something more heartless in mind.

“The ticket agent asked her to have paperwork for the dog’s vaccinations as well as travel fees and when she didn’t, she told the border officer that she would make other arrangements,” police said. the airport’s chief, Charlie Vazquez, told ABC News Action.

But Bama’s owners seem to be plotting a more insidious solution, one that would spell disaster for the abandoned dog. According to camera footage, the woman – when told her dog can’t fly – simply dropped Bama’s leash and boarded the flight without him.

“We love animals and to treat an animal like that is really shocking,” Police Chief Vazquez told the station.
The abandoned dog was transported to VIP Rescue in Florida, where rescuers began nursing the abandoned 14-year-old dog back to health. This starts with just cutting the dog’s hair, which requires shaving off a large pile of dirty fluff.

The rescue team’s founder, Corrin Smith, said: ‘He had a few sores, he had an ear infection, and he was slowly dying.

But even though Bama will eventually get the loving home he deserves, Smith is determined to hold the dog’s former owner accountable for Bama’s abandonment and abandonment.

Smith told ABC Action News: “The woman should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The Florida state attorney’s office is reportedly weighing the charges, according to Sheriff Vasquez, but in the meantime, the official hopes this heartbreaking story will serve as a guide for other travelers.

“We recommend that you contact the airline before you get off the airport and find out the requirements for fees, and what documents you need for the animal,” he said. “If you come here and you don’t (have those), please don’t abandon the animal. Contact someone and we’ll make the arrangements. ”

ABC Action News arrived for Bama’s vet appointment today. It will air tonight at 5 o’clock and 6 o’clock. He had to be sedated and clipped. Thank you to the loving people at the Love Doctor clinic.
