Even at the height of the rise of Y2K, no one wanted to give miniskirts a second chance—except Taylor Swift comes out with many versions of last summer’s style.

And now, her BFF Emma stone also follow the trend, puts a modern twist on a divisive style. On Friday, the actress attended several press events for her new film Kinds of kindness in New York City, zipping through town in a white dress with two front pockets and an opening for a glimpse of her micro shorts underneath. She paired her smart dressing style with traditional sportswear with a matching collarless jacket with multicolored buttons and white lace-up sandals.

A small monogrammed Louis Vuitton purse, rose-tinted sunglasses and a simple silver drop earring rounded out her look, while she wore her auburn hair down in loose waves loose to one side.

In addition to the minidress, Stone has another connection between Swift and her upcoming film, as she stars alongside pop star ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn in the film. Despite the recent breakup between her best friend and her co-star, Stone is not a favorite. “I love Joe,” Stone previously said confessed about Alwyn, explaining that they were “friends” before the project. “We had to do some pretty dark things in this movie, so it was incredibly comforting to be with him because he’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”
