withdraw announced Fourth generation version of its Flashing Flash called Flash Pro Max, Flash Prime+ and Flash Pure.
The three models differ in both power and features. Top Flash Pro Max has a power output of 140 Watt-seconds (Ws), includes a leak detection system, OLED display on the back, and high-speed sync (HSS) functionality. midrange Prime Minister Flash+ has 90W of power and the same features as the Pro Max except for the back screen. Finally, the entry level Pure Flash has 70W output and has no leak detection, back screen or HSS features. Interestingly, Flash Pro Max and Flash Prime+ each deliver 10W lower maximum power than the previous respective models, Flash Pro X and Flash Prime X.
Retra says the latest strobe lights have “completely redesigned” electronics, so that the new models require “less power for the same amount of light output”. The optical activation system is now more reliable, with the strobe light working even when using “suboptimal fiber”. In addition, the control dials are now sturdier and easier to operate, especially with gloves. Perhaps the biggest news is the redesigned battery compartment, which accepts four AA batteries as standard and adds four AA batteries with the addition of the Booster. Unlike the Supercharger, which performed this function for earlier models but protrudes significantly behind the flash, the Booster only protrudes a small amount. According to Retra, Booster doubles battery life and halves recycling time.
