Resolute Racing Wins Group 1 Champion Goliath


Resolute Racing’s John Stewart has expanded his rapidly growing empire into Europe with the acquisition of recent King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) winner Giant .

According to Thoroughbred Daily News Europe, Stewart has completed a deal to retain a 75% stake in Goliath with the gelding’s breeder and owner, Baron Philip von Ullmann of Gestut Schlenderhan.

The German-bred Goliath has become a major contender for major autumn prizes such as the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1T) with a 2 1/4-length decision over a top contender in the King George VI and Elizabeth Stakes. He had previously won the The Prix d’Hedouville (G3) at ParisLongchamp and finished second in the Hardwicke Stakes (G2) at Royal Ascot.

With his victory in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes on July 27, a Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series event, Goliath earned an all-expenses-paid entry into the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Turf on November 2. Del Mar.
