Don’t forget all those surging emotions on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” As the calendar shifts to October, Kyle Richards may be immune to even the most dramatic scares. “I like the spooky side of Halloween,” she said. “We have a big celebration every year because the holiday has stayed with me all my life.”
The Bravo star and actress has the bill. As a child, she appeared in the TV series “Little House on the Prairie” and recounted that patriarch Michael Landon had a birthday on October 31. Her eldest daughter, Farrah, was born on the same day in 1989. , has spawned a series of decadent themed parties. (I’m sure “RHOBH” fans remember the scene where Lisa Rinna dressed up as actress Erika Jayne.)
And of course, Richards has a deep relationship with “Halloween” movie franchise. Not only did she play the young Lindsey Wallace in the original 1978 horror classic – Jamie Lee Curtis’ babysitter Laurie Strode successfully defended her against masked killer Michael Meyers – she She also stars in the purported finale, “Halloween Ends” (in theaters Friday, October 14). “It’s unbelievable to me that I’ve been here in the first place and played this character,” Richards said. “I love that the fans are still invested!”
So, where is Lindsey now? Still lives in Haddonfield, Illinois, where she is friends with Laurie and her niece (Andi Matichak). “It’s a small part, so this movie is really about me supporting Jamie,” she explains.
Richards is still uncertain about her plans for the 2022 edition of her favorite holiday. Until then, she spoke to CNN Underscored about interior design, skin and pet accessories to keep her in good spirits for Halloween.
Richards began decorating her Beverly Hills mansion on October 1. “I like to set the vibe and tone right off the bat,” she says. That means covering the front doors with translucent cobwebs – along with a “trick or treat” sign – and decorating the halls with purple and orange lights. (She asks her daughters for help with the latter.) “If you walk past my house,” she said, “all the lights are on inside.”
Pity the pumpkins that used to be on display on Richards’ porch. “I want to go to the pumpkin shop and buy these pumpkins – then the dogs and squirrels will eat them,” she said. “I can’t cope!” Now, she chooses water-resistant lanterns that one of her daughters found on Amazon. Perhaps the change was for the best: “My kids aren’t at the age where they want to carve pumpkins with me, which is sad. They can’t be bothered! ‘
Depending on her agenda for the night, “I’ll wear black cat mommy with ears or I’m sexy,” she says. “Halloween is the only time of year I can really get away with it!” (See: her Playboy bunny outfit in “RHOBH” 2019 Halloween episode.) Richards invited her to meet her in person at LA’s famous Trashy Lingerie, which has been selling clothing and accessories since 1974; not Angelinos can shop from its online selection.
Richards is aware of the candy corn consensus. . . and don’t care! “I know there is hate,” she said. “I love them and will eat them until I get a migraine. I only buy candy that I like! But because her house is tightly controlled, she doesn’t pass anything on to the kids in the neighborhood. Instead, she went to Paris Hilton. “My niece has a great area to trick or treat, so we’ve been going up there for the past few years.”
The (black) cat is out of the bag! Back in daylight, Richards and her husband would pour wine into red Solo cups and then drink at night. “We’ll go trick or treat the girls and just bring the cups – that’s really obvious,” she said. After all, “We must have snacks too!”
River, Bambi, Storm, Luna, Romeo, and Smokey, the family’s rescue dogs, all dressed up for the big night. She said: ‘I did the lion thing when they had a little mane around their heads. However, she advises fellow dog owners to choose wisely, as pets don’t necessarily love the experience. In fact, she admits that dressing up her dog like a fairy princess with a conical hat was probably not the smartest idea.
“Thriller” isn’t the only great Halloween track. Each season, Richards likes to change her phone’s ringtone to the creepy “Halloween” theme that plays at the beginning of the series. (Fun fact: Halloween director John Carpenter penned it.) “It’s so iconic that whenever it comes out, people freak out!” she speaks. “I quite like that thing.”
OK, so Richards didn’t exactly watch the Movie It All Begins on the actual night. But she came across it on TV “by chance,” and people keep tagging her on Instagram as they watch it. She also notes that her daughters have never had any joy. “It’s not even scary,” she said. “There are nude photos! That always stresses me out as a mother. “
