The 2024 RBC Canadian Open will look a little different this year as the tournament returns to Hamilton Golf & Country Club for the first time since 2019 and the seventh time in the event’s history. Five years ago, it was Rory McIlroy who scored seven goals to win his first Canadian Open, but last year it was Nick Taylor who became a local hero.

Defeating Tommy Fleetwood with a 72-foot eagle putt on the third playoff hole, Taylor became the first Canadian in 69 years to win the championship for his homeland. Taylor instantly established himself as a legend with the win and the celebration that followed — so much so that his silhouette is now part of the tournament logo.

The Canadians hope to break another drought this week as their countrymen have not won the Canadian Open in consecutive years since 1913-14. The field was filled with those representing the Maple Leafs with familiar names like Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, Taylor Pendrith, Adam Svensson and the man blocked to celebrate Taylor’s win, Adam Hadwin.

This group of Canadians will not only have to compete with two-time tournament winner McIlroy, but also the likes of Tommy Fleetwood and Tom Kim – all in what has become one of the the best on the PGA Tour calendar.
