When The Genshin effect first released in 2020, you’d be forgiven for thinking it would be a fatal confirmation that the open world RPG (*cough* Breath of the Wild clone *cough*) will switch to Convert at some point in the future. You will be right, it coming to Switch at some point in the future…probably so.

Tired of waiting for updates, a fan on Reddit manually made the transfer and managed to upload a version of the game and just about runs on the Nintendo console. In the video (thanks, GameRant) you can see u / wingsofthygiant managed to load the title on the Switch and, after quite a while of loading, even ran around a bit.

A brief look at the video should tell you all you need to know about whether or not this is an official Switch release (it’s not). Through the use of an Android emulator, u/wingsofthygiant managed to bring the mobile version of the game to the Switch, or more specifically the Switch’s touchscreen – the controls weren’t built for use Joy-Con.

With fewer official ports and more crafty transitions (pun intended), this version of Genshin Impact is a collection of stretch screens with stop-motion-like frame rates, so meanwhile technically playable, we’d say other consoles are still the way to go for now.

Of course, one official Genshin Impact’s version is still supposed to be coming to Switch at some point, with miHoYo claiming it was ‘still in development’. I just hope the fans don’t beat them to the finish line first.
