State funeral for Queen Elizabeth II scheduled for September 19, Royal announcement Saturday.
She died on Thursday on her Balmoral estate in Scotland at the age of 96. She has been queen since 1952. Her death ended the longest-running monarchy in British history.
The funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey, a royal church in central London. President Biden and other world leaders are expected to attend. The UK has declared September 19 a holiday in honor of the queen.
Prior to the service, Elizabeth will lie in state inside Westminster Hall for four days for the public to pay their respects.

In a statement on TwitterElizabeth’s grandson, Prince William, has written that it will be some time before the reality of his grandmother-free life will sink in.
“While I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful. I have benefited from the Queen’s wisdom and reassurance during my fifth decade,” he said. write.
William added that he looks forward to supporting his father’s new title of King Charles III, which is officially announced earlier than Saturday.
