Princess Madeleine of Sweden adopts abandoned rescue dog

Like many members of her family, Princess Madeleine of Sweden is a big dog lover. So when she saw an adorable rescue dog in need of a home, she couldn’t resist. A formerly abandoned dog is finally moved to a shelter in Miami, Florida, and Princess Madeleine falls in love.

Madeleine and her family moved to Florida from Sweden in 2018. They often return to Sweden to see other family members, but Florida is now the place they call home. Their new dog is the second to join Princess Madeleine’s family since she arrived in the Sunshine State.

From unloved to spoiled

The newest addition to the family is a 3-year-old Havanese named Oreo. Before arriving at the shelter, Oreo lived at a home where he was tied up outside almost 24/7, forced to endure the Florida heat. So when Madeleine brought him home, he experienced true love for the first time.

To introduce the puppy to her fans, Madeleine posted about the dog on Instagram. In the post, she included two snaps of him outside, along with a snap of him next to his new canine brother, Teddy.

“Let’s meet Oreo! He is a 3 year old Havanese who we recently adopted from a wonderful shelter in Miami. Before that, Oreo was not treated well and was tied up outside, under the elements of Florida, for most of the day and night,” Madeleine wrote in the caption.

Several members of the Swedish royal family are dog lovers, as proven in the family Reunion photo in 2021. The King and Queen’s dog, Brandy, and the Princess’ dog, Rio, appear in the picture.

Part of the family

Princess Madeleine and her husband, Christopher O’Neill, have had Teddy at least since 2020, but they didn’t feature him on social media until 2022. Luckily, the Goldendoodle was quick to pick up. Oreo into her pack and seems happy to have a dog. Brother.

“Today, [Oreo] makes us laugh and shows us what a gentle and loving soul he has (and, yes, Teddy and he are absolutely pals who can’t stop playing together)! “Princess Madeleine wrote.

The couple also have three children (Leonore, Nicolas and Adrienne) who love dogs. Many people commented on the princess’s Instagram post to congratulate her on adopting a dog. Hopefully the Oreo adoption will remind others that there are always plenty of incredible rescue dogs looking for permanent homes.
