Prince Harry ‘Delighted’ to Attend His Uncle’s Funeral

Prince Harry surprised royal fans with a surprise trip across the pond–and reunited with his estranged brother Prince William– at the funeral of his late uncle, Sir Robert Fellowes. Earlier reports suggested that Harry had not originally planned to attend the Spencer family event, but in retrospect he is said to be glad he decided to appear at the emotional memorial service alongside members of Princess Diana’s family, sources said. Everybody that despite not seeing Harry and William speak at the memorial service, the prince was “pleased” with the family’s reception at the gathering.

Harry sat alone with William at the service at St. Mary’s Cathedral on August 29, with both brothers surrounded by family members, several sources told the publication. While the Duke of Sussex received a frosty reception from the Windsors, he remains on good terms with the Spencer family, including Princess Diana’s sister Lady Jane. According to EverybodySeveral groups of family members and friends approached both brothers during the memorial service. Harry and William were said to have been standing quite close to each other at times, but sources at the event said they they don’t recognize each other or talk to each other.

While the Duke of Sussex has avoided attending events where he might clash with his brother or King Charles, including the highly publicized wedding of Hugh Grosvenor (Duke of Westminster) and Olivia Henson, royal insiders were not surprised he made an exception for this memorial.

“I think it’s lovely and right that he came and paid his respects,” a royal source told the publication. Another insider said it was likely Harry would start spending more time with the Spencer family as he struggles with his father and Kate Middleton’s health issues.

“With everything that’s happened with the family’s health, I suspect he wants to spend time with everyone,” another source close to him said. Everybody“He is very close to his mother’s family.”
