With cars changing hands for seven figures, NHTSA’s stop order has some owners quite eager to drive the cars they’ve paid for. When we first reported on this in April 2023Everyone thought this was just a normal quick summon, nothing to worry about. In January of this year, that was made clear. that this did not happen, with the estimate being Q3 2024 for the parts to be ready. Now, as Q3 2024 draws to a close, these cars are once again in full production.
Why would Porsche offer to fix two-decade-old supercars that are rarely driven and are reserved for the rich? On the one hand, it’s good PR for Porsche to treat its most ardent supporters with kid gloves. On the other hand, it’s really bad PR for Porsche if some rich idiot drives around with old suspension or old tires (or both) and go let them get killed in a fireball collision.
