Police arrest 13-year-old boy driving in the opposite direction in T'ganu - 4 passengers, ignoring repeated stop calls

High drama in Chukai, Terengganu. A 13-year-old boy has been detained by the police for dangerous driving and not having a license. Mind you, it wasn’t just a test of slow driving around taman, but he went against traffic, evaded arrest and had a whole car full of passengers!

According to Kemaman district police chief, Hanyan Ramlan, the arrest happened last night at Taman Banggol Indah, Chukai. BSPT Police IPD Kemaman was conducting Op Lancar/Op Samseng Jalanan in the area when they noticed the white Saga BLM around 4pm.

“Police noticed the suspect was driving a white Proton Saga from the opposite direction while passing Jalan Bawah Jambatan Geliga (Riverside). The functional force signaled to stop the car, but the driver ignored the request to stop the car, increased the gas and ran away. The police tracked the car and asked it to stop three times, but were ignored,” Hanyan said. Sinar Harian.

He added that police tracked Saga scam for 10 kilometers before the teenager stopped the car at a laundromat and fled. Ultimately, the boys aged 13 to 16 were arrested and taken to Kemaman police station for further action under Section 42(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987.

The driver will be detained today while the passengers have been released. Police will also call the vehicle owner – the suspect’s mother – to record her testimony. She will be subpoenaed for allowing someone without a driver’s license to drive her car.

Hanyan said that apart weed driving, the suspect has committed a number of dangerous acts to himself and passengers as well as other road users. “The suspect was driving around on Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan from KM 155 to 157 and did not stop at the Mak Lagam traffic light. The car also passed dangerously and cut through the queue at the traffic light of the Geliga bus stop,” he said.

It’s a catalog of offenses and it’s like a scene from a movie. The fact that teenagers ignore repeated calls to stop and start a chase is astounding. Young people use the road as a playground, endangering themselves and other road users – sounds familiar? What if this carelessness results in loss of life, or five legal troubles for others? Will heavier punishments for parents work?
