Peyton, Eli Try to Break Manningcast Curse on ‘Monday Night Football,’ But Fail spectacularly
Looks like the Manningcast curses have finally reached Peyton and Eli Manning’s ears.
A total of six active NFL players appeared on the Manningcast of “Monday Night Football” in 2021; They all lost the next week. Maybe that’s why Al Michaels, Phil Mickelson, Draymond Green and Philip Rivers are here this week. Unless Rivers is nearing retirement and plans to play Sunday, there’s no threat of a curse affecting an NFL player in Week 11.
Despite that, Eli Manning managed to help Mickelson – who recently won the PGA Tour Champions final – to break the curse. He optionally said, “No, I believe that’s a thing, and that’s why I’m not playing next week.”
Below is a list of players who participated in the “Monday Night Football” Manningcast. Some of the losses were in the crazy games (Seahawks vs. Titans, Chiefs vs. Ravens), while others were real losers (Buccaneers vs. Saints, Bills vs. Jaguars).
Week | Player | Results after Manningcast |
first | Russell Wilson | 33-30 lost to Titans |
first | Travis Kelce | 36-35 lost to Raven |
2 | Rob Gronkowski | 34-24 loss to Rams |
3 | Matthew Stafford | 37-20 lost to the Cardinals |
7 | brave cat | 36-27 lost to Saints |
8 | Josh Allen | Lost 9-6 to Jaguars |

That said, Mickelson has come up with a potential solution: just bring in players whose teams are about to say goodbye. Peyton Manning is a bit happy with that opinion, saying they could instead bring in players whose team plays the Broncos, Colts or Giants next week.
Something else to watch for: whether the Manningcast curse will overtake sports, as Mickelson has suggested. Green will be the guinea pig in that test, when the Warriors head to Brooklyn to face the Nets at 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
Mannings raised the curse again, with Eli Manning saying, “You can curse or be cursed. Draymond chose to curse.” (Green had previously said the word “ass” on the air.) Peyton Manning later quipped, “Let’s beat the Nets tomorrow so we can stop talking about this.”
