This week’s panelists were asked to imagine a fight between two heavyweights Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua and then choose the winner.
Wayne Alexander (Former European Super Middleweight Champion)
I will have to choose Wilder. Wider was only defeated by Tyson Fury, with whom he was mortally wounded in their final competition and the number one heavyweight contender in the world. Deontay, despite being knocked out by Tyson, still shows that he has tremendous punching power last time he faced Robert Helenius. Anthony put on a brave and brave performance against Usyk, but I feel he is the more vulnerable of the two. I thought he was going to try to get past Wilder but ended up getting caught, injured and stopped in the fifth or sixth round. I hope I’m wrong.
Tyrone McKenna (Welterweight contender)
I honestly think Wilder is one of the most dangerous heavyweights at the moment with his insane punch power. That, combined with the fact that AJ sometimes doesn’t move, means I can see him land heavily on AJ and win. But it’s definitely a fight I want to see.
Tunde Ajayi (Coach)
It was an enchanting battle. Some people seem to have eliminated AJ, but I still believe he can be the champion again. With Wilder, with all his natural, God-given strength, he’s defensive everywhere and this is where AJ can take advantage and catch him first with a big hit. Having said that, if Deontay had landed first, we’d have seen the devastation he caused. That guarantees a 50/50 fight.
Jason Cunningham (Former European super bantamweight champion)
Deontay Wilder by KOing me. The power of a frantic punch. Credit to Fury for the way he deals with him as well. On any other heavyweight bout this minute, I want to see Wilder vs. Joe Joyce. That entertainment is written all over.
