College football The landscape is changing rapidly.
The emergence of NIL deals (names, pictures and the like) has now put player empowerment at the forefront of the sport, and as a result, coaching, recruitment and transfer portals have undergone major overhauls.
The transfer portal may have seen the biggest change. Players jump from show to show, and the end of an earlier rule requiring players to sit out for a year after a transfer has given them a significant boost. Nebraska, USC, South Carolina, Oklahoma – all have transferable QBs on their offenses and that’s just the surface of teams with new rosters.
But not everyone is in favor of the makeover college football has undergone.
“This generation of children, they have seen LeBron [James] bring his talent to Miami” Oregon Offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham said, via Sports Illustrated. “They want to be on a ‘supergroup.'”
Blaming James for the flow of “superplanes” in another sport seems like a stretch, and “Undisputed” host Skip Bayless’ note, it’s completely inappropriate – especially if NIL is being wrapped in it.
“NIL is the greatest thing that happens to college football, or anything college,” Bayless said Wednesday. “Because for years and years, coaches and authorities have taken advantage of these children. Especially in the violent game of professional football, because you will die for the cause… and your knee is broken and you can’t play professional football try to win games for a college that doesn’t pay you any money other than room, board and tuition.… I have no problem with LeBron leaving Cleveland. ”
Nominee of Hall of Fame II Shannon Sharpe sided with his colleagues on this issue.
“These people may not be able to enter [the pros]”he say.” But they might have a chance to have a few hundred thousand dollars as a springboard… and keep them until they can get out into the real world.
“I have no problem with [players transferring], because coaches have been doing it for the longest time. Brian Kelly Did It Twice: Remember He’s Gone Cincinnati right before the bowl match, and Florida Beat them in the bowl game. Then he did it again, went to LSUand left Notre Dame tall and dry!”
Fox Sports College Football Analyst Joel Klatt I also disagree with Dillingham.

Joel Klatt joins Colin Cowherd to discuss comments Oregon OC Kenny Dillingham blamed on “superplanes” for LeBron James’ move to Miami.
“I think it’s kind of stressful,” he said of the comment. “I don’t think we can sit here and blame LeBron when it’s more of a cultural shift. … In our culture, we navigate to where we feel most comfortable. … We enter new cycles only for the benefit of our new minds That is our entire culture.
“And the transfer portal, where does a child have to go? Where is the hardest place? That doesn’t [make sense]. We become rigid in our own cellars does not make culture better. “
