Once again, the sleek Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan has been teased

It’s not clear what efficiency traction Hyundai is targeting with the Ioniq 6 sedan, but Mercedes-Benz EQS liftback has one of 0.20.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is said to offer up to 230kW of power and a range of 515km, using a 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery.

It’s not clear what test cycle that range figure is based on, nor how robust the lower Ioniq 6 models are.

For context, Hyundai Ioniq 5 hatchback-crossover offers a WLTP 160kW, 350Nm and 451km range in single-engine rear-wheel drive guise, and 225kW, 605Nm and 430km range in dual-engine all-wheel drive guise.

Both variants use a 72.6kWh battery.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 are both based on the Korean automaker’s E-GMP electric vehicle architecture, which will also be used in Ioniq 7 SUV launches in 2024.

The Ioniq 6 is said to be 4855mm long, 1495mm high, 1880mm wide and have a wheelbase of 2950mm.

That makes it 45mm shorter, 50mm lower and 20mm wider than Sonata N Series on a 110mm longer wheelbase.

In 2021 it was reported Ioniq 6’s reveal was delayed by about three months to make it longer in both scope and size.

External changes are said to include redesigned front and rear bumpers, increasing the overall length by 20mm.

In terms of styling, it is expected that the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will follow in the footsteps of the Ioniq 5 and feature the brand’s Parametric Pixel lighting elements.

Korea Economic Daily also says that the Ioniq 6 will come with an “illuminated grille”, allowing the driver to use the grille as an LED lighting device.

Developed by parts division Hyundai Mobis, the grille can change color to indicate it’s charging, there’s an emergency, or the vehicle is on autopilot, among other situations.

Hyundai has committed to reducing carbon emissions by 75% of 2019 by 2040, with the goal of zero carbon emissions by 2045.

By 2030, Hyundai targets 30% of its global vehicle sales to come from zero-emission vehicles. By 2040, they want zero-emission vehicles to account for 80% of all sales.
