No Ford 600 miles EV, MCS vs. hydrogen, AM radio in EV: Automotive News Today
Ford says enough is enough with race range and behind efficiency and survivability. AM radio in EV now seems safe. And is megawatt charging a threat to hydrogen fuel cell technology? This and more, at Green Car Reports.
As Ford CEO Jim Farley explained earlier this week, as part of an effort to control costs and build better electric cars, the automaker is simply trying to use Smallest battery for competitive range. It means Ford won’t go to 600 miles in its electric vehicle.
While enthusiasm for hydrogen fuel cell passenger vehicles has waned, it seems poised for a new push towards other pickups and heavy-duty trucks. Megawatt will effectively charge nix hydrogen and its top advantage till now is refueling time?
And What’s all the fuss about AM radio in EVs? Some automakers say it’s electrical interference; some say that no one is listening to AM; others point to the lack of AM radios in Europe. Either way, Ford yesterday decided this wasn’t a war worth fighting and agreed to bring back AM radio in its electric vehicles.
