Nintendo is reported to be experiencing a 10% drop in switch sales due to supply issues
While there is still a lot of demand for the Switch, Nintendo is said to be bracing for a drop in hardware sales.
According to Nikkei Asia, the Japanese video game giant is expected to sell “only about 20 million Switch consoles” in the current financial year, down 10% from fiscal 2021. know how they learned that “semiconductor shortages and logistics network disruptions” were contributing factors.
This will be down 30% from fiscal 2020, when Switch sales reached 28.83 million units during this same period. In fiscal year 2021, Switch sales are estimated at around 23 million units (down 20%).
To counter this, Nintendo clearly intends to “sell more” Switch software in the current financial year. So far, the 2022 calendar includes games like Mario Strikers: Battle League, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Splatoon 3 and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
