Newcastle United Football Club Manager Eddie Howe says he remains committed to the club and will be so as long as he is “happy and feels supported”, amid reports linking him with England head coach position after Gareth Southgate left.
Southgate, who took charge of England in 2016, announced he would leave on Tuesday after second consecutive defeat in the European Championship finalThis time it was a crushing 2-1 defeat against Spain.
It is speculated that Britain will seek another native-led replacement, with Howe or former Chelsea Boss Graham Potter has considered strong candidates, but they may also be open to finding a top replacement elsewhere.
“Really, I don’t think about anything else and I’m very passionate about working here,” Howe told BBC Radio on Friday from Newcastle’s training camp Germany.
“For me, as long as I’m happy, feel supported and comfortable doing the job that I love at Newcastle, I’ll be very happy — and I really am.”

The job description states the need for a coach who can lead the team to “winning a major tournament” as the England men’s team have not won a major trophy since the 1966 World Cup.
A successful candidate will also have “significant experience of English football, with an outstanding track record delivering results in Premier League and/or top international competitions,” the FA added.
The FA has set a deadline for applications of August 2 ahead of the Nations League kicking off in September.
