New Disney and Marvel games revealed at D23 Expo

Expo D23 on Friday saw the media giants Disney unveil, among other things, a series of new game-related announcements related to various Disney properties. . Updates to older and newly released titles, as well as brand new Disney games based on classic Disney shows and Star Wars Join the company’s production team.

Aliens: Darkness Lower

Not to be confused with the legendary horror game Amnesia: The Dark Descent, this new game is a different kind of horror: It’s about witnessing a plan go completely wrong and all your little soldiers die. It’s a strategy game, for consoles and PC in 2023. The game was first revealed at this year’s Summer Game Festival, but some new gameplay was introduced at D23.

Avatar: Reckoning

Pandora is coming to your Android or iOS device as Avatar: Reckoning, a new mobile MMORPG. The developer update revealed more gameplay, showing off character customization and multiplayer battles. It will come soon.”

Disney Illusion Island

This animated exclusive new Disney game stars Disney’s own Fantastic Four (apart from Marvel): Micky, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The OG quartet together embark on a co-op-focused 2D platformer adventure. It will switch to a “TBD” date.

Disney Speedstorm

Disney is known for its theme parks, but used to be a kart racer Disney Speedstorm Launched at the end of the year, it may be known for its racetrack (some of which evoke theme parks). The latest trailer promoted a course based on Monsters, Inc., starring Mike, Sully, and Randy. The game is available on Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X | S, PC and Xbox One.

Gargoyles Remastered

Not sure young people remember the old 90s cartoon Gargoyles especially good, but the Disney adaptation of the Sega Genesis is being remade by Empty Clip Studios for consoles and PC. Watch the video above for some gameplay footage of the original, courtesy of YouTube user Media Pool.

Marvel and Skydance New Media‘S Adventure game without title

This game was developed so early that it didn’t even have a title, but its developers established a concept. It’s a “narrative-driven fusion adventure”, featuring an origin story set in the Marvel Universe. It’s set during the Second World War, featuring Captain America and Black Panther fighting alongside Howling Commando Gabriel Jones and warrior Wakandan Nanali. Amy Hennig, formerly of Naughty Dog and key creator behind Not discovered yet series is leading the project. No platforms have been announced, but consoles and PCs are a safe bet.

Marvel Snap

A Marvel game that was announced earlier in May, the punters Marvel Snap has a release date now: October 18, 2022. It’s a Marvel branded product Hearthstone or any number of mobile-based collectible card games present in the space.

Marvel’s Midnight Sun

After receiving push back once, Marvel’s Midnight Sun was pushed back another time, to a final release date of December 2, 2022. The game is an unusual one, focusing on magic by Marvel’s standards. D23 Expo has seen some new gameplay footage and more about the tactical battle and the game’s storytelling. The game also has some tactical pedigree, developed by XCOM and Civilization studio Firaxis. Game Headed to PC, Xbox Series X | S and PS5. A series of “Prequel Shorts” storylines will premiere on October 31, 2022 via Marvel’s YouTube channel.

Marvel Heroes World

A new geo-based game by Niantic, the developer of Pokémon GO, Marvel Heroes World brings that familiar AR touch and encourages people to get out and play in physical locations (while glued to their phones).

Tron: Identity

Based on the classic sci-fi movie, Tron: Identity from Bithell Games (developer of John Wick Hex and Thomas was alone), and clearly a visual novel. A little more of the story has been revealed.

Updates and more

Besides new and upcoming titles, the D23 Expo Marvel and Disney Games showcase also showcased updates and re-releases for existing titles.

Recently released farming sim Disney Dreamlight Valley there’s a tease about a new realm based on Pixar Toy Story in the fall of 2022, with release planned Lion King-based on later expansion.

Mobile RPG Disney Mirrorverse there is also a tease for its upcoming Halloween Eventthere’s Oogie Boogie from Nightmare before Christmas and other Disney villains.

To round things up, Marvel Strike Force teased Red Hulk’s arrival next week on September 13, and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga There will be a “Galactic Edition” re-release on November 1, 2022.

Galactic Edition launches with 13 character packs: 7 released for Character Collection 1 and 6 brand new packs in Character Collection 2. This is a more update for new buyers, as all of the above saves a “Classic Obi-Wan Kenobi” character that can be purchased separately by the owner of the original release. The game lands on Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Series X | S.
