Netherlands: Boy, four, called ‘new Max Verstappen’ after riding mother’s car for joyride | World News
A four-year-old boy has been likened to F1 star Max Verstappen after taking his mother’s car for a drive in the Netherlands.
Utrecht police said the child crashed into two parked cars and was found by a bystander alone in his pajamas and barefoot on Saturday.
The child took his mother’s car keys to “drive” after waking up on Saturday when his father went to work, according to police.
On Instagram, the force said it had discovered a “new Max Verstappen” and that no one was injured in the incident.
Police contacted the boy’s mother and while talking to her on the phone, the boy gestured at the wheel, leading police to think he might have been driving.
Brought to the scene, the child was asked if he knew how the car worked.
Police said he opened the car with the key, inserted the key into the ignition and approached the clutch with his left foot and pressed the gas.
“Fortunately, this mini-driver’s adventure ended with a bang,” police said.
The child was examined by paramedics and taken to the police station, where he was given a hot chocolate and asked where he had come from.
Max Verstappen is the current Dutch world champion Formula one driver.
