Neta GT previewed in Malaysia – sporty two-door electric coupe with up to 462 PS, 580 km CLTC EV range

At the launch yesterday X NetworkThe brand also introduced the GT, a two-door sports coupe with up to 462 PS (456 hp or 340 kW) and 620 Nm of torque. Sharing the Shenhai platform with the S, the GT debuted in China last May and is offered in two variants.

First up is the GT 560, which retails for 188,800 yuan (about RM121k) and has a range of up to 560km on the generous CLTC standard. This variant is powered by a 64.27kWh battery that powers a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 231PS (228hp or 170kW) and 310Nm. This translates to a 0-100km/h time of 6.7 seconds and a not-so-specific top speed of over 190km/h.

Priced at 226,800 yuan (RM146k), the range-topping GT 580 AWD adds a second electric motor to the front axle for the aforementioned figures and a quicker 0-100km sprint time of 3.7 seconds. The battery has a larger capacity of 78kWh, boosting range to 580km.

Charging via AC input takes around 11 hours for the GT 560 and 14 hours for the GT 580 AWD, both of which are capable of handling a maximum AC input of 6.6 kW. There’s also DC fast charging (the power isn’t listed on the automaker’s website) that charges the battery from 30-80% charge in around 30 minutes for both variants.

The extra power on this top-spec model comes with other performance upgrades, including standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, along with four-piston fixed calipers up front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear.

Available equipment for the GT includes 19-inch aluminum wheels, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 50W wireless charging pad, integrated sports seats, dual-zone climate control, the Neta Pilot 2.5 advanced driver assistance system (including AEB and adaptive cruise control), a 17.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12-speaker sound system. Customers can optionally add a more comprehensive sensor suite to enhance ADAS functionality and a sports kit, the latter seen on this left-hand drive example.

The GT measures 4,715mm long, 1,979mm wide, 1,415mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,770mm. That gives it a footprint that’s almost identical to the Second generation Mercedes-AMG GT. The Neta GT was previously seen at this year’s Malaysia Motor Show, but it’s not known when (or if) the electric sports car will be launched here. Interested?
