Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire will battle each other on June 7 nearly three years since their thrilling encounter in Saitama.
The Bantamweight World Boxing Super Series final was the match of 2019 and gave Inoue the toughest task to date.
That night, ‘The Monster’ successfully defended its WBA and IBF world titles with a decisive victory. This time Donaire will also order his WBC jewelry.
The Philippine evergreen won the championship by defeating Nordine Oubaali with a score of 4order knockout match. Donaire backed that up with a similar victory over Reymart Gaballo last December. Now, the 39-year-old, will return to Saitama Super Arena to equalize against Inoue.
“Expect a bigger battle than last time!” Inoue said in his battle announcement on Instagram.
The match is expected to be shown live on Amazon Prime Video in Japan. In the UK, Sky Sports has an exclusive broadcast deal with promoter Inoue’s Top Rank.
