MyRacehorse and RT Racing Team Up for Authentic Colt

MyRacehorse and RT Racing teamed up to sign for a $360,000 Authentic   colt early on Day 2 of Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Yearlings Sale, Aug. 14. Winter Quarter Farm consigned the ridgling colt bred by Oak Bluff Stables and Christophe Clement as Hip 407.

“We liked this horse; he was a nice scopey, athletic, two-turn-looking colt,” Roderick Wachman, global head of bloodstock and racing for My Racehorse said. “I think he’s going to develop significantly more, and I look forward to seeing him get under tack.”

Freshman sire Authentic has been on a tear in the sales ring; his first crop of yearlings are proving well-received in the market for end users and pinhookers. The colt out of the winning Street Sense   mare Savvy Sassy  is sibling to two stakes-placed runners in Brattle House  and Bourbon Bay .

The mare is half sibling to dual Canadian grade 3 winner Southdale  and S S Pinafore , dam of Shortleaf Stable’s Plainsman  , winner of the 2022 Razorback Handicap (G3), 2021 Ack Ack Stakes (G3), and Discovery Stakes (G3) of 2018.

“Authentic is a big draw, being MyRacehorse was part owner in the horse,” Wachman commented. “They are not all the same; we bought one last week that was more of a sharper model than this guy. Both are very correct and nicely made horses. So far, we have had sunny select sales, so it’s a little bit odd, but he seems to put down a nice horse. When I look at the Authentics, I think Into Mischief, and hopefully, he can go on the trajectory.”

Through Aug. 13, Authentic has had 13 yearlings sell for an average price of $483,462 and a median of $450,000.

Last week during the Saratoga Select Yearlings Sale, agent Donato Lanni signed for an $875,000 son of Authentic, out of Golden Domer  for partners SF Bloodstock/Starlight Racing/Madaket Stables to be the highest offering thus far for the sire.

MyRacehorse purchased the Authentic colt (Hip 9) out of Brandy  for $400,000 from the Machmer Hall Sales draft last week during the Select Sale.

Microshare ownership platform MyRacehorse partnered with existing owners Spendthrift Farm, Madaket Stables, and Starlight Racing for Authentic’s wins in the 2020 Haskell Stakes (G1), Kentucky Derby (G1), second-place effort in the Preakness Stakes (G1), and final victory in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1).

The champion 3-year-old and Horse of the Year Authentic stands at Spendthrift Farm in Lexington for an advertised fee of $60,000 for 2023.
