Mr. Fisk was diagnosed with a condyle fracture

After being unseated following his 2 1/4-length victory in the $201.00 Hollywood Gold Cup Stakes (G2) on May 27 at Santa Anita Park, Mr. Fisk was diagnosed with a condyle fracture.

Coach Bob Baffert reported the injury on social media.

“Mr. Fisk is resting comfortably in his barn, ready for dinner,” Baffert reported on X. “He has a condylar fracture and will require surgery (May 28). His prognosis is very good. Jockey Kazushi Kimura took very good care of his horse. “

After ending 2023 with a number of stakes wins, including a clear victory in the Native Diver Stakes (G3), Mr Fisk has won two of his first three starts of 2024 as the four-year-old son of Arrogate enters Monday’s 1 1/4-mile race for 3-year-olds and up to win by 2 1/4 lengths in the April 20 Californian Stakes at Santa Anita.

Mr. Fisk was pulled up behind the Hollywood Gold Cup and he did not enter the winner’s circle when he was sent off. After the race, the victorious Kimura told Baffert that Mr. Fisk felt a bit down.
