Moqadama Tops Tatts July Online Sale from Lexington

The most publicised event of the Tattersalls 4th of July online sale is Moqadama a sister to Dark Angel to the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (G1) winner Khaadem . She was, unusually, supplied from America by Castleton Lyons near Lexington, pregnant American Pharaoh and sold for 160,000gns (US$214,400) to Fortune Bloodstock.

Buyer Andrea Brereton, representing a client, said: “Obviously the Khaadem update is a huge positive for the family. My client really loves American Pharoah and the opportunity to breed something from him also appealed to us. The depth of the mare’s pedigree caught our eye with her pedigree being predominantly on grass and the plan is to bring her back here to breed.”

Horses being trained at Newmarket

Newmarket horse trainers will receive the two highest-priced trained horses from the Tattersalls July online sale, with the horse being bred royally Sam Hawkens bound to William Haggas and the prolific Glor Tires heading to Jane Chapple-Hyam’s yard.

His dam was the 2016 Mill Reef Stakes (G2) runner-up. Perfect Angel Is one dark Angel sister of the 2018 Princess Margaret Stakes (G3) winner Angel’s Hideout .

Glor Tyre could soon resume its run as four-time winner Jim Bolger hits 82,000gns.

3 year old child Teofilo The mare thrived with the busyness, racking up all those wins in just over five weeks in May and June. She was acquired by Transatlantic Thoroughbreds for Jastar Capital, a family-owned asset management business that owns a number of other mares with Chapple-Hyam, such as the progressive and listed Shades of Summer. Nike.

Ownership sold Taraj third place behind the winner of the next Irish Classic Los Angeles in the Derby Trial Stakes (G3) at Leopardstown, for an impressive £480,000 at the Goffs London Sale.

Glor Tire’s dam, Ceistiu, has never raced but is a brother to Group 3 winner and third-placed 2016 Prix Rothschild (G1) steep slope , Del Mar Grade 3 winner Ceisteach and the dam of the decorated baby fish Malavath And Knight .

“We bought her with the intention of turning her into a good breeding mare for the future and she has quite good potential,” said Jastar’s racing manager Murt Khan.

“His half-brother (now named Merchant by Highclere Thoroughbreds) was sold last autumn for €135,000 and belongs to William Haggas, so we hope he can fulfil his potential.

“Glor Tyre did well in Ireland and has improved this year. We’re hoping she can go to France where there might be some small fields, and potentially take a few races, maybe get some black type. We’ll just see where that takes us, she could be someone who has an all-weather campaign in the winter for the bigger prize races. She’ll have a bit of a rest now and we’ll let Jane feel her out.”
