Monster truck jumps near power lines leading to predictably shocking consequences

You might think that a monster truck show would offer extra safety measures to keep fans safe from 5-ton vehicles, but an event in Maine last week proved just that. opposite.

On Saturday, June 1, two spectators were hospitalized after a giant truck jumped and cut into power lines, taking several poles with it, all of which was recorded by a bystander and upload to YouTube.

It is unclear whether other spectators were as seriously injured, but emergency services rushed to the scene and helped others with minor injuries.

Marc Hagan, Chief of the Topsham Police Department, said a spectator was hit and injured by equipment falling from a utility pole.

The driver of the ‘Crushstation’ truck involved in the incident – operated by Maine-based Bottom Feeder Motorsports – was not injured.

WMTW interviewed Mike Herson, who was at the truck show with his three-year-old son, who told the news outlet: “Everything happened so fast. The transformer fell just a few feet away from us.”

CD driver also spoke to one of the contributors who lives near the Topsham Fairgrounds, who told the publication that they had stopped visiting the truck show “because there was nothing separating the trucks from everyone else but 70-year-old chain-link fence.”

Another attendee also said CD driver that she had noticed the low hanging ropes earlier in the day and had moved her seat.

Police and emergency services are still investigating the incident.
