Miami moves on but Philly is on top

The sample size MLS is now up to 180 minutes per team! Well, minus the goodbye teams, so they still have 90 minutes. And not really for some of the teams in the CONCACAF Champions League, because they sent weaker teams this weekend to prepare for the midweek continental game.

And then there are teams that are still arranging paperwork or fitness for new signings. And can you really judge a team with a new manager that is clearly still working on issues? But at least we have both of those matches to make definitive statements about who is good and who is bad. Rate me!

On the one hand, Philly lost to Miami. On the other hand, they are still the better team and *gesture at all previous seasons*.

The 2-0 scoreline in their win over RSL didn’t sit well with the Sounders. Haters should enjoy last season’s missed playoffs. Seattle is back.

LAFC was off after leading Portland 3-0 and it’s hard to blame them. They still won and the gap between the top 3 and the rest of the tournament right now is huge.

The Lions are clearly headed for the CONCACAF Champions League clash with Liga MX side Tigres and are only hoping to turn their match against Cincy into a fierce kick for points. They’ve got their opinion and now it’s in Monterrey.

The Garys can only do so much for their agent in Orlando. Win and everyone says “well, the Lions played their B team,” but lose and they probably won’t be the final opponent. A draw splits the difference, but you can see the maturity of Cincy’s play and how they can decide a lot about how that game plays out in Florida. They need to get sharper, but what they showed bodes well for the rest of the season.

Another MLS season, another season Maxi Urruti is a useful striker. It was like the hands of a clock, and it gave Austin a well-deserved victory over Montréal.

Are you dreaming of all those great plays in the middle of the third turning into a final third or asking yourself when their drive to play will actually translate into consistent wins? After their draw with Toronto, it will be much easier to be the latecomer, but we will be the frontrunner because sometimes you have to flirt with pain.

Entering the Red Bull Arena and leaving with a point is always a job well done, even if it leaves fans wondering what sport they just watched.

We’ll see how long it takes for the Crew to really absorb Wilfried Nancy’s system, but they’ve shown some degree of confidence in it and as they did in their win over DC, Lucas Zelarayán and Cucho Hernández can carry the team temporarily.

Two goals for Jesús Ferreira against the Galaxy, three for Dallas and we can find ourselves in the “he’s not just a one-season wonder!” early territory, although no one really calls the striker a one-season wonder.

The results show that Inter are a contender, especially after they beat Philly this weekend. The eye test isn’t entirely convincing, but those spots last forever.

RBNY’s 0-0 draw with Nashville featured nine bruises per shot.

The Revs are back! Led by Bobby Wood! Welcome to the really real headlines of Game Week 2, after the Revs beat Houston.

TFC hired Bob Bradley and spent ridiculous amounts of money because they wanted to be special, but the only thing special about the team right now is their injury list. Taking a point from Atlanta, all things considered, not bad.

The Timbers were completely crushed for 60 minutes before scoring late to make things even more respectable in the 3-2 loss to LAFC, but the first hour certainly seemed much more representative of the team’s position this compared to half an hour ago.

It’s probably not a good thing that Quakes teams are still compared to the Goonies team about 2012 because, it’s been a long time since they’ve been good. And this version of San Jose isn’t as good at the Goonies level, but it’s encouraging to see them come back to beat Vancouver without having to be like the Goonies. They didn’t win with madness at the end of the game, but instead by developing the game slowly and methodically to get the well-deserved 3 points. The Quakes are looking trusting *gasp*.

SKC looked pretty good in the opening game and lost, so it only makes sense for them to look shaky in Colorado this week and somehow walk away with a point.

Prior ratings: 18

RSL need to get their fingers crossed people only saw the score in the 2-0 loss to Seattle and didn’t watch the game for pretending.

Prior ratings: 20

Goodbye early in the season is useful when you are still waiting for your best player to appear.

Prior ratings: 13

The Galaxy was completely burned in the transition and their wingers were a black hole, but at least Dejan Joveljić played well in the loss to Dallas. Sounds a lot like 2022.

There are a lot of moving parts in the Bronx, but as they showed in their draw against Chicago, a lot can be solved by having Keaton Parks in the midfield.

Prior ratings: 22

Charlotte conceded a goal before heading it into their own net, but at least they learned their lesson. Instead of repeating the same mistake for their next adventure in Gifting St. Louis Goals, they made a back pass for Man City to have an easy finish. It’s growth, kind of.

It’s been two weeks and after two losses, it’s hard to find what’s more disturbing: the talent that went away in the winter or how poorly Hernán Losada is a match for the talent there.

Prior ratings: 23

DCU looks like a professional, competent team. It’s quite a winged compliment, but after the club’s direction in recent years, it’s also a big step forward. Losing 2-0 in Columbus won’t earn them any credit, but you can see they’re realizing who they are.

Again, Dynamo looks good. And again, they lost, this time to the Revs.

Prior ratings: 28

Another memorable win for St. Louis City gives them their iconic opening game and first home win for them to enjoy forever. But while the wins are great, it’s still like fool’s gold. What happens when opposing teams stop giving them goals on silver platters?

Prior ratings: 27

One day Darren Yapi will turn those chances into goals and Rapids will have a special player, but for now he’s just an 18-year-old trying to polish his game and they could only get a home draw with SKC.

Prior ratings: 26

Two games, two losses, but at least the signing of their winter keeper Yohei Takaoka looks like a home success. Now if they can’t ask him to do too much.

Prior ratings: 29

A point! But just one home game against a converted NYCFC team? Open. And injuries are starting to pile up? Oh no.
