Mercedes-Benz is saying goodbye to the V8 inside the G500 by introducing this new G500 Final Edition. Limited to just 1,500 units, the Final Edition was introduced 30 years after the German automaker first fitted a V8 engine to the G-Class, which saw the debut of the engine. Mechanically, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 used in the Final Edition is no different from the regular G500, delivering 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW) and 610 Nm of torque. This is paired with a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission as well as all-wheel drive.

Special details that mark the Final Edition include 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a double five-spoke design with a shiny finish. They are painted in the same body color or black depending on the chosen exterior paint, of which there are three options: Black Obsidian Metallic, Magno White Opalith and Magno Olive – the last two options in the Manufaktur palette.

Mercedes-Benz will offer 500 units of each color, all with the distinctive ‘Final Edition’ text and embossed logos on the door handles. There’s also a projection on the rearview mirror that projects the ‘G’ logo and the words ‘Stronger Than Time’, while the spare wheel rim is in shiny chrome to complement other parts with a similar finish. on one’s own. For good measure, an exclusive indoor car visor is also offered to buyers.

Inside, you’ll find ‘Final Edition’ branding on the illuminated door sills as well as the passenger handles. Even the keychain receives a genuine silver coin in the form of an edition-specific plaque to ensure those sitting at the dining table know that you have a commemorative model.

Other standard features included with the Final Edition are the Superior Line package, Burmester surround sound system, Active Multicontour Seat Package Plus and the new Manufaktur all-leather package, which brings Nappa leather to nearly every part of the cabin, including both roof panels and luggage compartment. The leather package is available in a variety of color combinations to match the vehicle’s selected exterior color.

Production of the Final Edition will start from September this year until March 2024, with each unit retailing for €196,350 (approximately RM996k). Although the G500 is set to ditch the V8, you can still get a powerful engine if you go with the AMG versions of the luxury off-roader.

If you want the Mercedes-AMG G63, there’s a special version of that too. First launched alongside the G500 Final Edition is the G63 Grand Edition which is limited to 1,000 units. Again, the powertrain hasn’t changed, so you’ll still get an upgraded 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 585 PS (577 hp or 430 kW) and 850 Nm.

The Grand Edition is distinguished from the regular G63 by the AMG logo and the Mercedes star, finished for the first time in the color Kalaharigold magno, as well as the Affalterbach emblem adorning the bonnet as well as inlays on the front and rear bumpers. after.
