Mazda announced Tuesday that the EZ-6 electric vehicle will be The first electric car on the global market.
Mazda Revealing this sedan in April in China, and at the time, the company did not provide information on whether it would be offered in any other markets. But in a press release, Mazda said the EZ-6 would be “officially launched in fall 2024 as a global model”, is on sale in First China, then Europe. The US isn’t mentioned, but the “global” phrasing at least leaves open the possibility of US sales—perhaps depending on US tariff, trade, and electric vehicle policies after the November elections.
The announcement does not include any further information about the EZ-6. Mazda 6’s electrified successor combines the styling of the Japanese automaker with powertrains and connectivity technology from Chinese automaker Changan Automobile.

In terms of powertrains, Mazda has confirmed both all-electric and plug-in hybrid options, with rear-wheel drive for better handling. The all-electric version will also have an ideal 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, Mazda said at the time of the reveal. The automaker also quoted a range of 373 miles (based on the Chinese test cycle) at the time.
Mazda says connectivity highlights will include gesture control and voice recognition, along with a large, horizontal infotainment touchscreen that follows current trends.

When discussing the EZ-6 as its first entry into the global electric vehicle market, Mazda seems to have forgotten MX-30only exists for a very short time. A extended range version of that crossover never even reached the United States.
The EZ-6 is definitely a long-range EV, but an American Mazda executive just last year it was made clear that don’t see long-range electric vehicles as the futurepredict that electric car buyers will learn, evolve, and change their priorities, and in doing so, realize that they really don’t need much range.
