Mattmu to Bearstone Stud for 2022 Breeding Season
Group 2-winning sprinter Mattmu , who was born and raised at Bearstone Stud, will return to his place of birth for the 2022 breeding season.
The son of former Bearstone Stud resident Indesatchel , Mattmu has sired two individual winners of four races from five runners out of his first crop, including Favourite Child, a two-time winner who was beaten just a nose into second in a French listed race late last month.
Mattmu was a high-class performer for Tim Easterby and owner James Bowers, taking home top honors in the Criterium de Maisons-Lafitte (G2) as a juvenile. As a 3-year-old, he captured the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club Phoenix Sprint Stakes (G3) and placed in three other graded stakes events, including a third-place effort in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes (G1).
Bearstone Stud owner Terry Holdcroft said: “Mattmu has impressed us with the quality of his stock and his early results indicate he is capable of upgrading his mares.
“We are delighted to welcome him back to the stud where he was born and believe he deserves the opportunity to cover a larger book of mares and build on his early success.”
9-year-old Mattmu, out of the successful Namid mare Katie Boo, will be a part of Dream Ahead and Washington DC at Bearstone Stud, where he will stand for a fee of £2,500.
