Matrilineal Lois Green family died May 31 at 84


Lois Green, co-owner of DJ Stable with her husband Leonard Green of more than 60 years, died May 31. She is 84 years old.

“Mother was the original general manager of DJ Stable,” Jon Green, Lois’ son and general manager of DJ Stable, told BloodHorse. “Under her guidance we won 1,500 races, seven top-owner titles on various tracks, won 1st place and created a champion.”

Lois and Len only race for the championship in 2022 with a fat 2-year-old boy magic wheel dressed in maroon silk and white diamonds with Hall of Fame coach Mark Casse. Daughter of into naughty won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) last year.

Their first 1st place win came when Do It With Style won Ashland Stakes (G1) in 1991 at Keeneland. Jon purchased the chubby Pancho Villa as an avid animal during the 1989 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Selective Annual Sale for $23,000 from her breeder, Bradyleigh Farms.

Services will be held on June 2 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. ET at Congregation B’nai Israel in Rumson, NJ. Donations may be made in Lois’s name to the New Office Racehorse Adoption Program or the New York Racecourse Chaplain.
