Many people were injured in the shooting, police captain said
Tulsa police responded to footage of an ongoing shooting on the campus of St. Francis within minutes of the first call, arrived while the shooting was ongoing, Deputy Sheriff Eric Dalgleish said at a news conference Wednesday night.
“The officers who arrived heard gunfire in the building, and that’s what directed them to the second floor,” he said.
The shooting took place at the Natalie Health Building on the St. Francis.
“This campus is sacred to our community,” said Mayor GT Bynum. “The men and women of the Tulsa Police Department did not hesitate.”
Police say four victims were shot dead. It is not yet clear whether the victim was a healthcare worker, a patient, or both. Dalgleish describes the scene as an orthopedic center.
Police say they are still working to identify the shooter and his motive. Dalgleish said the gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and no police officers were injured.
