Battles are raging in the south and east of Ukraine as authorities reported more casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure on Monday.

Donetsk region

The Donetsk region continues to see some of the heaviest fighting. On Monday, the Ukrainian military said Russian forces were trying to advance towards Lyman, Bakhmut and Avdiivka.

At least one person was killed in the city of Krasnohorivka, said Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk regional military government.

Kherson region

Russian forces opened fire 42 times in the area in the past 24 hours, the regional military junta said on Monday. “The enemy has attacked civilian settlements in the area with artillery, MLRS, mortars, tanks and infantry fighting vehicles,” it said.

The regional military government said at least three people were killed by Russian shelling in the city of Kherson on Sunday and eight civilians were injured of varying degrees of severity.

Kharkov region

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, said at least one person was killed and three wounded in the city of Kharkiv on Sunday.

He said preliminary investigations showed that the missile was fired from the S-300 air defense system.

“The missile hit a four-story residential building in the Kyivsky district,” Syniehubov said. “The upper floors and roof of the building were destroyed, and a large-scale fire broke out.”

Syniehubov added that Kupiansk, Vovchansk, Strilecha, Dvorichna and other towns were attacked by the enemy, with private houses, shops and other buildings damaged.

In Kupiansk, a 41-year-old man was wounded by enemy shelling, he said.

Zaporizhia region

The Zaporizhzhia regional military government said the situation remained relatively stable as Russian forces were focused on capturing occupied territories in the region.

Regional police said Russian shelling damaged homes and residential buildings in various parts of the region.
