Lexus RX L seven-seat SUV will be replaced by TX

With Fifth generation Lexus RX A Lexus spokesperson revealed to Motor1. This means RX L seven seats saw its sunset alongside the previous generation RX.

However, it won’t be the end of the unibody seven-seat presence in the Lexus lineup, as this has previously been rumored to be succeeded by a sedan. Three-row SUV called TX. This was revealed as part of the brand’s mass electric vehicle presentation late last year, although showing up in a rather low fashion at the time.

Rumors of the TX nameplate have been around since 2009, although the earlier application was more likely to be for a smaller vehicle. More recently, Lexus Enthusiast filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the TX350 and TX500h.

If the just-launched RX is used in tandem, ‘350’ would mean the use of the T24A-FTS turbocharged 2.4-litre petrol engine, while the same ‘500h’ suffix could mean the addition of a turbocharger. The rear-axle electric motor complements the same 2.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine.

In the RX 2023, a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine produces 279 hp and 430 Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels or all four cake, depending on the variant.

For the RX 500h, a parallel-hybrid system uses a six-speed automatic transmission, where the internal combustion engine powers the front wheels while an electric motor drives the rear wheels, generating total system power of 373 PS and 550 Nm.
