Lawn Bowls at Commonwealth Games 2022: Full schedule, format, teams, locations, times
Lawn Bowls is one of the oldest sports in the Commonwealth Games, and has appeared in every edition since 1930. England and Scotland are the most successful nations in the sport. , won 20 gold medals each country.
At the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia dominated and won four of the eight gold medals for the scramble activities.
This year, more than 20 countries will participate in the sport in four formats. Besides, Para Lawn Bowls will also participate in the Birmingham Games.
Short rule
Lawn Bowls are played in four formats – singles, pairs, threes and fours.
This sport involves rolling a bowl down a green strip, directing it towards a target known as ‘The Jack’. Jack is between 75 and 105 feet away. The team with the closest bowl/bowl to the hole wins/point.
In the singles event, the first team to reach 21 points wins the match. In all other competitions, bowls are thrown from 18 heads and the team with the higher total wins.
Tournament Format
Across all four game modes, teams will be divided into four groups. The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals.

India will begin its campaign on July 29, with the men’s and women’s quarterfinal pairs being Malaysia and England respectively. The men’s three-man team will also face New Zealand on the same day.
The venue for the Lawn Bowls tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games will be Victoria Park in Birmingham.
