Bold Ventures stake CA $150,000 (G3) and CA $150,000 Trillium Stakes (G3) co-titles for an 11-race card on August 13 at Honeysuckle.
The 1/16-mile Trillium main track, for infants and mares 3 years of age and older, has attracted 13 hopefuls, a group that includes many graded stake winners Lady Spectrum Winner Hendrie Stakes (G3) Hazelbrook and the winner of Powder Break Stakes Kate’s Kingdom .
Trillium is scheduled to be the seventh race while Bold Venture is the eighth. Located at 6 1/2 freeways on the Toronto Tapeta, Bold Venture for kids ages 3 and up has attracted 14 starters, including Candy overload .
4 year old son of Reload coached by Krista Cole-Simpson – who is co-owner with Denny Andrews and Northern Dawn Stables – delivers a 3-4-1 difference from the 12 starts on his latest test and takes the win. In seven shoes, a win represented his signature late hit, delivering a 2 1/4 long score in a time of 1:22.14.
Cole-Simpson expects her steady charge, 2-3-0 in his past six games, to have some pace to chase on Saturday.
“It was important to have something for him to run,” she said. “Last time he won, it was really exciting. Just the way he closed, he was so wide in the first leg, but he just flew past everyone with ease.”
Other starters include intern Josie Carroll Avie’s Flatter and Mason’s Gamble Mark Casse’s trilogy helium gas , Souper Stonehenge , Click it to win and a big bet winner Nobals and Outadore .
