Katie Kenyon: Police prioritize area in Forest of Bowland as they search for missing mother of two | UK News

Police are investigating the disappearance of mother-of-two Katie Kenyon prioritizing part of the Forest of Bowland after a member of the public tipped them off.

The Lancashire Constabulary added “forensic search and surveillance” was in place north of Blackburn.

It is located in the Gisburn Forest area, where previous searches have also been carried out.

The force also said it received information about a sighting of a silver Ford Transit van – registration number MT57 FLC – last Friday, the day Ms. Kenyon was last seen.

She was found on a lorry in Burnley.

“Katie’s family is aware of this development, although at this early stage it is too early to say if the find is related to her disappearance,” officers said.

Their operations in the area “may take some days”.

They had previously said they were “working on the basis” that Ms Kenyon, 33, was “sadly no longer alive”.

People are advised not to speculate on social media as “this may cause further suffering for the family”.

Andrew Burfield, 50, appeared at Blackburn Magistrates Court on Thursday morning accused of murdering Mrs. Kenyon.

He will appear before Preston Crown Court on Friday.

More than 60 search officers from four police forces scoured the mountainous areas looking for Ms. Kenyon.

Officers from Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and North Wales police forces are clearing the area with support from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team.

Ms. Kenyon is described as 5ft 9in tall and fair-skinned with shoulder-length strawberry or ginger blonde hair.

She was last seen wearing a blue shirt or jacket and white vest, black leggings and flip flops.

Anyone with information should call police on 101, citing log 800 dated April 24, or they can contact officers via major breakdown of the public portal.

Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
