The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The prequel film earned more than 5.8 billion yen (approximately $50.1 million) in gross. It sold over 4.3 million tickets just 11 days after its release on December 24, 2021. In first three days, the film became the second fastest-grossing film in Japan after last year Demon Slayer: Ship Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen.

This makes Jujutsu Kaisen 0 One of the best selling anime adaptations. It officially surpassed last year Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0, get 3.3 billion in the first week. Besides, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 grossed 2.6 billion yen (about $22.4 million) in its first three days of release. Meanwhile, the only movie that sold better Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in the same time period is Demon Slayer: Ship Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen in ¥ 4.62 billion VND.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a film adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen creator Gege Akutami’s prequel same name. The film tells the story of Yuta Okkotsu, a new student at the Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Engineering School. The powerful ghost of a deceased childhood lover haunts Okkotsu, who must find a way to manipulate his curse for good. Veteran voice actor of Evangelion reputation Megumi Ogata voice acting for the character.
MAPPA did the animation for the film, and it is also currently in charge of the animated series. MAPPA has worked on other notable animated series, including Chainsaw Man and the upcoming final season of Attack the giant.
