Josh Waters can’t wait to work in Darwin

ASBK 2022 – Round 4 – Hidden Valley

So Josh, first to Darwin with BMW.

I like Darwin and I look forward to driving my BMW there. I believe I have some engine upgrades for this event, so it will be another step. You know what it’s like; all the little steps. ”

With your results are thereYou must like the music?

It’s one of my favorites. I like it. I had some great results there so hopefully we can go back there again. It’s as great as a motorsport weekend. It has the highest level of motorsport racing in the same weekend. ”

Coming in 4th place in the championship, you got off to a pretty good start with your BMW?

Yes, I just got chipped. Let’s keep working with a little planning. It would be really nice to stay there because everyone in the group will be there soon. It’s like a flying ring!

“Glenn was pretty good there and I read some of the press there [the bike] started really well, but didn’t really progress. I think this weekend, that will change.

“Because I ride a horse. They went in the direction I went with spring speed, and things like that, that’s natural in all the bikes I ride. I take them lighter. There are many ways to skin a cat.

“It’s also the tyres. The old tire we don’t have now suits BMW better than what we have now, so they had to change the bike. The ‘W’ used to work great. Glenn and Shane have always been passionate about it. It’s like a ‘support strap’, and it works great. They’ve gone too far with how they made that tire, so we’re going to find a way to make it work. We have found a new direction.

Glenn told me that with electronics, with throttle, you have similar suspension preferences, but go in a completely different way with throttle application and engine braking.

He likes it to slide and things like that where I like it more like a grand prix bike – more like an old fashioned grand prix bike – to match. He likes the Supermoto style; you know “support” and he supports it, because he feels comfortable doing it, whereas when he is in line, he doesn’t feel as comfortable as I do. I’m the opposite, like ‘shit, get back in line. ‘

It’s really interesting. He went up there. You do well up there. It will be interesting to have the two of you on the same team in Darwin.

Yeah, he obviously goes well there, so there are any of us. Look at the Yamahas The Yamahas didn’t have that amazing achievement there years ago, but looking further ahead, look at how they go now. You’ll have to right it with lots in the mix. ”

You have to be perfect every inch around. Not just for a perfect but a good one.

100 percent. When you join all the dots together, it’s a much more interesting circuit than having you tie yourself in knots. You can easily hate it and think, ‘damn it, it doesn’t flow’, but if you hit all those spots and make it ooze, it’s like ‘oh my god, I wish they would. longer sessions’. You are just enjoying so much.

“It starts at T1, you can take that angle in a number of effective ways but to do it in a number of ways you can do it in five laps, but since you already have the inertia of the bike from turn one. essay and rise, to turn five you can do it when you feel good but it tire you out when you go overboard, going from left to right, gliding from side to side, flat. You’ve got the engine flattening, the pistons, the crankshaft, it feels like it weighs two tons when you pull it from left to right, the throttle is engaged. You know the feeling from there. ”

Yes and you told me that gave me some tips for TTC in July! So you are quietly confident?

Awwww, I’m a realist. I will love it and I will have a good weekend, after last weekend with my brothers at Finke. It would be great if they were both done, but they’ll be back there.
