  • Background: Taylor and Catterall are finally about to meet again after their meeting. controversial match in February 2022, when Taylor won an unconvincing split decision. Taylor was a hot fighter at the time, having bested Jose Ramirez to become the undisputed 140-pound champion the previous May. A controversial win over Catterall followed, after which his championship status was unraveled. The 33-year-old Scot lost 3 of his 4 titles outside the ring and then had the worst night of his career, a wise decision loss to Teofimo Lopez in June last year. He begins the rebuilding process against his opponent on Saturday. Catterall, the 30-year-old Englishman, bounced back from his disappointment against Taylor with two straight wins. He knocked out Darragh Foley twice and easily eliminated him last May and thereafter defeated former three-division champion Jorge Linares by a unilateral decision in October. It was Linares’s fourth straight loss, meaning Catterall’s victory was of limited significance.
