Joe Biden adopts a new puppy at the White House
The Bidens have just welcomed a new family member: a 3-month-old puppy named Commander.
The purebred German Shepherd was spotted playing on the South Lawn of the White House on December 20, and Jill Biden’s press secretary, Michael LaRosa, confirmed the news of a puppy to CNN.
President Joe Biden also confirmed the news about the puppy Twitter, shared a video with the caption, “Meet the latest Biden.”
In the video, the president can be seen playing with the puppy as well as walking it through the White House door with Jill.
The video reads “Welcome home, Commander!” Check it out below:

Based on CNN, LaRosa said that the puppy was a gift from Joe Biden on his birthday from brother James Biden and sister-in-law Sara Biden. The President turns 79 years old on November 20, 2021.
The pup was born on September 1 and was welcomed at the White House after the family’s dog, Champ, passed away in June of this year.
Major Shepherd, Joe Biden’s other German, was transferred to Delaware after he became aggressive with staffers at the White House. The Biden family decided it was best for them to remove the Major, whom they received to rescue, from their home and put him in a situation better suited to their needs.
Commander should settle down with his new home and hopefully we’ll see more of him on the POTUS social media platforms!
