Jeep introduces three EVs by the end of 2024


Jeep car previewed its first three electric vehicles, two of which are designed for global markets and all due out in 2025.

First launch is targeting Europe Avengersfollowed by two global models: focused on off-road Recon and family friendly Wagoneer WILL.

They also confirmed that they want electric vehicles to account for 50% of sales in the US by 2030 and 100% of sales in Europe by the same year.

In addition to introducing its first electric vehicles, it plans to expand its range of 4xe plug-in hybrids with electrified powertrains across all models by 2025.

Jeep Recon

The most adventurous of the electric trio is the Recon, a rugged off-road vehicle that will go into production in North America in 2024.

Orders in the US will open soon in 2023, while Jeep says it will be sold in “major markets around the world, including Europe”.

The Recon has been designed exclusively as an EV, but is also designed to fit the Rubicon Trail and therefore wears the Jeep Trail Rating badge.

Finally, it includes electronic locking axle technology, underbody protection, tow hooks, off-road tires and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system.

Like Wrangler and FighterDoors and glass are removable, and there’s also a one-touch folding roof.

Jeep also says it will provide detailed touring guides on notable off-road trails in its latest-generation Uconnect infotainment system.

The Recon wears a spare wheel on the rear door like a Wrangler, while there are flared wheel arches and a closed version of Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille, with illuminated contoured slits.

The company has yet to announce any specifications for the Recon, although it will be revealed to the public next year.

Jeep Wagoneer WILL

This sleek SUV is codenamed Wagoneer S, but despite the name, it’s completely unrelated to the Ram 1500-based Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models.

Instead, the Wagoneer S, like the Recon, uses the STLA Large architecture designed with the needs of electric vehicles in mind.

Like the Recon, it has an electric powertrain and will go into production in North America in 2024.

Jeep says it targets a range of 644km and a 0-60mph (0-96km/h) time of around 3.5 seconds, with the Wagoneer S to produce 447kW of power.

The company says it will show the car to the public next year and offer it in major markets around the world including Europe.

Like the Recon, it has an illuminated seven-slot grille, but it has a different overall shape and design – just like the car itself.

While the Recon is boxy and upright, the Wagoneer S is sleeker with a slimmer roofline. There are square wheel arches, and a roof-mounted spoiler and full-length light bars down the rear.

Jeep calls it a “premium midsize” model, which suggests it will be about the same size as Grand Cherokee.

Jeep Avenger

Finally, the company previewed a new, smaller compact electric SUV Extend size and will be built in Tychy, Poland.

While it’s the last model on our list, it will be the first to hit showrooms, with sales in Europe commencing as early as 2023. Jeep says the Avenger also will be offered in other markets, such as Japan and Korea.

However, the company has stopped talking about whether this will be a global model like the Recon and Wagoneer S, which seems to rule out its availability in North America – and potentially cast doubt on its availability. introduction in Australia.

Jeep is aiming for a 400km range from the Avenger, which will be officially revealed at the Paris auto show on October 17. It says it’s one of four zero-emissions vehicles it will launch in Europe on year 2025.

Plug-in hybrid

The brand has only offered electrified SUVs in markets like France, with plug-in hybrid versions of the CompassRenegade, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.

The company has previously confirmed it will offer plug-in hybrid versions of each internal combustion engine model by 2025, indicating that Fighter 4 cars are on the way.

Jeep has confirmed a plug-in hybrid version of the Ram 1500-based Wagoneer is on the way. Gladiator 4xe is expected to use an electrified version of the long-running new inline-six Hurricane Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L.

While the series of Jeep announcements is heavily focused on the US and European markets, it is possible that we will see some of these electric and electric Jeeps in Australia.

Jeep doesn’t offer any electric models here at the moment, but it will launch its first model, the Grand Cherokee 4xe, in early 2023.
