Jaron Ennis: “It’s Time to Be a Legend”
By: Hans Themistode
Once the clock officially signals a new year begins. Some kind of epiphany swam past Jaron Ennis.
The extremely talented 24-year-old has had an outstanding 2021. To kick off his year, Ennis faced the toughest opponent of his young career, former 140-pound champion Sergey Lipinets. Though the Lipinets went confidently into their contest, Ennis easily eliminated his elder with ease and destruction, scoring two knockdowns the night before winning the sixth inning.
Not long after the win, Ennis closed out his great year with his first knockout win over Thomas Dulorme.
With two impressive wins in his back pocket, Ennis currently ranks in the top three in all four major sanctioning body weight rankings. Although he doesn’t have a match date yet, he hopes to enter the ring two or three times this year.
While he usually won’t make bold statements, the Philadelphia-born is confident that 2022 will be the year he rises to the top of the rankings.
Ennis told FightHype.com: “I watched the division split for me to come out on top and win one of those belts. “Become one of the pay-per-view superstars and end up on the balance sheet.”
Ennis’ lofty goals coincide with what he believes will be a shot at this year’s world title. Philadelphia has repeatedly called for matches against WBA title player Yordenis Ugas, WBO champion Terence Crawford and unified champion Errol Spence Jr.
Despite his wishes, Ennis might be forced to wait. Spence Jr recently revealed that a confrontation between him and Ugas will take place in April. Crawford, of course, hopes to beat the winner.
Regardless of how things turned out in the end, Ennis would patiently wait for his chance. Even though Ennis is only 24 years old, he feels obliged to take his career to the next level.
“It’s time to become a legend and take over.”
